Godly Politics

A midst all the news surrounding the new Prentice Government and the new fall session on the federal level, the idea of politics has become increasingly interesting to me.  I've always dreamed of choosing a career that involves making a difference.  Now, I'm starting to consider a career in politics.  Of course, I would have to have another profession before entering politics, but the idea of becoming a politician is starting to appeal to me.

As some of you may know, I have always been extremely interested in politics.  But the one problem I've always had is that none of our politicians admit to being a Christian, or act in a Godly way.  Misusing taxpayer money and the power given to you by CITIZENS isn't a good way to run government.  I could go on and on about how messed up our political system has gotten, but that's beyond the point of this blog post.

Here's the thing: youth my age are always dreaming and talking about their future careers.  Many don't even consider politics, as it's one of those things that require a lot of analyzing a lot of complicated situations.  It's also a job that requires another job, like a lawyer or social worker.  I'm willing to take the long career path, because being a Godly politician is important to me.

I may only be in grade 10, but it's never too early to start dreaming and planning your future.  Knowing where I want to be as an adult will definitely help me prepare for a life that fulfills God's plan for me, what I want to do for a job, and how I can reach other people in the community.  Please pray for me.  I'm really passionate about making a change.  Pray for God's guidance in this whole decision.

Also, pray for our leaders.  Everyday.  They need all the wisdom and guidance from God that they can get.  Although most of them don't have a personal relationship with Him, pray that they will one day get to know him.  Pray for our country's leaders and the international leaders.  Pray for the crisis' in Russia/Ukraine, the middle East, and especially for the terrorist group ISIS.

Pray for world peace.

Summer Youth Celebration Reflection

Dear God:

All I can say is thank-you.  There are no more words to describe my gratitude for Your Son's sacrifice for people He didn't even know.  I am only here today because of You, and You alone.  It amazes me when I think about salvation. A big word with a big meaning.  A deep, personal one.  Salvation means hope and being able to look forward to good things in the future.

No matter where You take me, I know I can trust in You.  You've got the whole world in Your hands, yet you still care for every hair on my head and every grain of sand on the face of this Earth.  My gratitude is unexplained, I am unworthy of this gift, this grace.  But I receive the best gift ever to be given and received.  And I promise to share it.  Because this gift is too big of a deal to keep to myself.

I've struggled for a while on how and when to share this beautiful story with my friends.  But it's hard to wait, hard to keep it in.  The fears that encompass me need to go away.  The bad thoughts need to stop, because this message, this story, NEEDS to spread.

So help me, I pray.  Give me the kind of boldness I need to spread the story and telling my friends.  Provide me with the right words to say and the courage I need to strike the conversation.

Thank you once again.

In Your Name,
Amen.

Who You Are

WHO YOU ARE

A MESSAGE TO ALL WOMEN

BY JON JORGENSON

You are beautiful.  You are smart.  You are funny.  You are kind.  You are unique
You are worthy of love and affection.  You are never too much
And you are always enough.

You are precious.  You are a diamond, a rose, a pearl
the most stunning of all God's creation.
You are worth more than you could ever imagine.
the numbers on a scale or the hair product you use or the shoes you wear.
how many girls wish they were you or how many guys wish they had you.
You are worth >  the price tags on your clothes or the percentage at the top of your math test or                                               even the number of followers you have on Twitter.

Your worth surpasses all earthly things, because in the eyes of The Lord God,
you are loved, and you are worth dying for.

Regardless of who you think you are - whether you model in a magazine or you model pottery with Grandma, whether you're on the hot list or on the not list, whether you're head cheerleader or a high school dropout, whether you're Miss Popular or you've never had anyone call you a friend, whether you love your self and love your life or can't stand to look in the mirror and you feel as if everything in your life is falling apart, whether you are such a winner or you feel like the world's biggest failureregardless of who you think you are, the reality is that you deserve someone who would give up His life for you.

Because you, too, are powerful.  And strong.  And capable.

Read about the women of the Bible - Esther, Ruth, Martha, Mary.  These women changed the world forever.

And inside of you - each and every one of you - is a woman with that same power.  That same strength and that same world-changing capability.  And your responsibility is to set that woman free.

This is who you are.

And any voices in your mind that tell you differently are from the enemy.  And the next time you hear them, you say, "Nuh, uh!  Not me, Satan.  I am a daughter of the living God - cherished, loved and adored above all things, by the Creator of all things, for the glory of Him who is greater than all things.  I am awesome!"  And don't you forget it!

Re-Post from God Girl Devotional Day 26

Devotions for the God Girl - Day 26

Written by Hayley DiMarco

45 I am the Lord, who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy. -Leviticus 11:45

Seven times in the book of Leviticus God commands us to be holy because he is holy (see Leviticus 11:44, 45; 19:2; 20:7, 26; 21:8; 22:32).  Holiness isn't something to be watched from a distance. It isn't an unreachable goal or one that you're allowed to avoid because of the abundance of kindness poured out on you.  God's kindness isn't something that excuses you from holiness but something that helps you get holiness.  Kindness, or grace, shouldn't be reserved for the occasional offense, but it should be accepted as the very hand of God on our life, giving you the ability to do what is holy instead of being a slave to sin.  The kindness of God brings mercy and forgiveness, but just as importantly, it brings His help.  You can't live a holy life without the Holy Spirit on your side.  And it is through the help of that SPirit that you have the ability to do what God commands to be holy.  If holiness feels like a totally unattainable gol, it's because you've tried to get there in your own power.  Holiness can't be attained by the flesh.  No act of strength can muster it. But you can willingly reach out and accept the gift of God's kindness and His Holy Spirit, and through that gift you then can get the strength and ability to be holy.

The God Girl can't dismiss the idea of holiness as an unattainable goal, one that i better ignored than pursued because of her inability to be perfect.  Holiness is your for the taking, and you can start taking it today if you are willing to trust that God will be your strength and that it's not through your own power but through His Holy Spirit that you can become holy.
